Mepunga Grains

Mepunga Grains is a stockfeed mill located in Mepunga in South West Victoria.
Mepunga Grains started back in 1999 with one truck and an auger supplying whole grains to local dairy’s around Mepunga. Over the last 19 years, with customer demand and changes in the dairy industry, customers required crushed grains, proteins and additives. We set up a roller mill with a mixer and more storage to cater for the demand.
Going from a one man show in 1999 to a team of 14 employees, Mepunga Grains has a good understanding of customer needs.

Colin Smith

Colin was born and raised in Mepunga on a dairy farm. At the age of 16, Colin left school to enter an apprenticeship in Building & Construction. Upon completion, he started his own building business which ran for 4 years until high interest rates slowed the building industry down. Colin decided to follow his childhood dreams of driving big machinery and work for an earth moving business for 2 and a half years until his brother who was on the family farm became ill.
Colin went back to the farm to help out his brother. The dairy farm was then run as an organic dairy farm, with a number of other local organic farms they formed an organic group which Colin joined. Each person in that group had a task. Colin’s task was sourcing organic grain for the other members of the group. With a number of conventional farmers in the area asking Colin to source grain for them, and his brother recovering from illness, Colin decided to purchase his own truck. This was the start of Mepunga Grains. With Colin’s passion and knowledge of the dairy industry, you can be assured to get the best service and quality feed at Mepunga Grains.
